The Challenge War Of The Worlds Episode 10 Recap and Power Rankings
The players get back to the house and react to the individual players twist and most seem pretty happy about it. Paulie and Turbo are talking, and the make an agreement to have each other’s back until the final. Kyle and Wes discuss who Paulie is going to go for next; while Bear and Theo plot to go after Wes and Hunter.
After the scheming subsides, we head to the mission for the episode. This mission is entitled Fandemonium. This mission entails the competitors running through a hallway against three 150 miles per hour fans. Whoever can deposit the most balls in five minutes will reach the tribunal.
This mission took FOREVER, which is logical considering how many players had to go. Hopefully, the missions will skew more towards the ones where everyone can participate at the same time, so we can still get a good view of what is going on without the mission taking up so much of the episode. Turbo, Theo, and Paulie ended up in the top spots for the mission, getting them in the Tribunal. Turbo needed medical attention from how strenuous the mission was, yet all he seemed to care about was how many balls he got. Bear also made it to the end eight times but missed the depository a few of the times keeping him out of the tribunal. TJ also announced this would be a male elimination week, keeping all the women safe.
Theo, Turbo, and Paulie head to the Tribunal and Theo grabs Wes, Hunter, and Kyle immediately. Turbo and Paulie don’t seem to protest much, which is odd considering Turbo’s previous animosity towards Bear but also it seems likely all three of the men picked would have selected Bear to go against anyways so it makes they would rather pick his opponent for him instead of giving him the opportunity.
This takes us to the Tribunal ceremony, and Hunter is up first. Hunter starts talking before Theo starts to shush Hunter prompting Hunter to start barking back at him. Hunter and Theo keep going at each other before Hunter tells Turbo he was disappointed he put him in and that he is never going to beg to not be put in. Hunter seems to have had a shorter emotional fuse than ever before this season, and that is with Wes (and Nany and Georgia to a lesser extent) seemingly making every effort to calm him down. I think the Smashley incident from last season has had a bigger effect on him than people realize and has really hampered his ability to trust in others. Kyle is up next, and he attempts to push himself as less of a threat than Hunter or Wes, but the Tribunal isn’t buying it. Wes is next, and he tells the Tribunal that they know other people are coming after them, yet they don’t know that Wes is.
Kyle and Wes are talking after the ceremony, and Kyle tells Wes he thinks he can win this elimination if he goes in. Kyle also mentions (via confessional) that he likes Wes but doesn’t trust him. Elsewhere in the house, Hunter and Georgia are joking around about who would win in a wrestling match. Hunter says the only person who would be a threat to him in a wrestling match is Turbo, to which Georgia says Turbo would break him in half. Theo emerges from the background and asks Hunter why he is talking when Wes hasn’t told him to speak up, and then Turbo also starts getting involved.
Security gets involved to separate Turbo and Hunter, but they keep barking at each other. Turbo goes back to his room causing Hunter to follow him there asking Turbo to talk. Turbo starts calling Hunter a chicken, but considering Hunter seemed pretty down to go into elimination or fight I would say he’s being more stubborn than cowardly. The next morning, Turbo tells Wes to tell Hunter that if he touches him, he will break his arm. Both Turbo and Hunter seemed pretty unfazed throughout the fight and an elimination between them would be a bloodbath.
This takes us to the Killing Floor, where all that is there are two baskets and a ring. TJ announces Burger King is sponsoring this elimination and will give a prize to the winner. TJ asks the Tribunal for their votes, starting with Turbo. Turbo votes for Kyle, saying Hunter and Wes have kept him safe. Theo is next, and he votes for Wes. Paulie is last, and at first, he makes a diversion as if he will vote for Wes but then he votes for Kyle sending him into elimination. I’m honestly not buying any feud between Paulie/Turbo/Hunter/Wes, and think they have an agreement to weed out the other guys before going after each other. Kyle selects Bear to go against, setting up the first UK vs. UK elimination.
TJ introduces the elimination as King Of The World. Each competitor starts at their basket, at which point a trivia question asked. Five balls are dropped by a drone, with the correct answer on one of them. The first competitor to get the ball with the right answer to their basket gets a point, and the first competitor to three points wins. The first question asks how many dots are on a dice, with the correct answer being twenty-one. Bear gets to the ball first but is tackled by Kyle. Kyle is able to wrestle the ball away from Bear, and it runs across the ground. Kyle is able to drag Bear to the goal and get the first point.
The next question asks which country has a Royal Family. Bear grabs Argentina, and Kyle lets him put that one in. The answer is wrong however, and Kyle can pick any ball he wants and put that one in. He selects Chile, which is also wrong. They go for Japan next and start wrestling over it. Kyle is able to get away from Bear and score Japan, getting the point. The next question asks what a Dolphin is classified as, and both go for mammal. Bear gets the ball and almost scores before Kyle comes flying and blocks it, and then is able to run away from Bear and gets the point and the win.
TJ dismisses Bear, as Georgia is heartbroken watching. She cries as Bear leaves, who doesn’t bother to turn around. One other issue with the individuals twist is it neutralizes half the house. One big positive with this format was everyone (outside of the relic holder) had a reason to be on edge up until the Killing Floor. Now, half the house is essentially not involved in the episode. Just another issue with the individual format that I am annoyed by.
Eliminated
Bear: A dynamite season from Bear, and he performed physically to go along with the drama. It will be interesting to see him in another appearance especially if he is missing some of his British allies.
Power Rankings
13) Da’Vonne: I’m not sure where her alliances lie but she and Theo seem to be the only people in the house without some sort of deal with Wes.
12) Dee: She struggled in the mission, and while I think she is a quality competitor there just isn’t much room to move her down frankly.
11) Nany: She has performed very well this season so I hate having her this low, but I could see her being targeted for elimination if thrown in.
10) Theo: Having him this low after winning seems crazy (and it definitely could be) but I could see him getting thrown in by everyone else simply due to not having many allies left.
9) Kyle: Outside of Theo, he seems like the next likeliest person to be thrown in and I don’t see him as much of a threat to win.
8) Georgia: She didn’t perform in the mission and loses an ally in Bear, but if that pushes her to the Wes/Hunter side of the house I actually think it could help her long term.
7) Mattie: She has such a size advantage over most of the girls I just can’t see her being called out in any elimination.
6) Hunter: His volatility could eventually get him in trouble, but since Johnny has left, he really hasn’t been in major danger of going into elimination.
5) Ninja: She continues to perform, but you wonder if the other girls rally to get her thrown in sometime soon.
4) Cara Maria: I actually she is in a pretty solid situation politically and her track record is enough to keep her towards the top.
3) Paulie: Having the respect of Turbo seems as if it will be good for your long-term future, and he has performed consistently this season.
2) Turbo: Has been a physical force this season and see no reason to drop him down.
1) Wes: Continues to slowly wrap the coil of this season around his finger and despite some veiled threats, nobody seems willing to take a shot at him.
